I took this photo one cold winter day, at sunset, which in winter happens very early here in Oulu, Finland. So it was around 3-4pm. For the taking of the photo I had gradient gray and sunset gradient Cokin mount filters on my camera. I did some postprocessing on it. What should we expect from a $3000 Sony Alpha 900? Can you imagine that is a 24.6 MP FF DSLR camera comes with some really impressive features and built quality? Just before that only the Canon 1Ds Mark III in the market offering 21MP resolution and asking more than double of the current price for a Sony Alpha 900.

Since Nikon released the D3, we have been focusing in the debates on higher ISO performance and pixel quality in the past year. Since the release of D3 and D300, we realized and surprised a new strategy from Nikon. Both Cameras defined a new standard in features & performance, though both come with an effective pixels count of 12 MP, D3 and D300 are sitting a clear position in their own class.

About a year after that, Nikon released another FX body D700 and cropped body D90, and now we have the Nikon’s top DSLR cameras running in unified standard for the pixels count - 12 MP.
