The POTY Contest 2004 gallery has more than 250 best photos selected among 8,000 photos submitted for year 2004, they are a collection of winning photos for the monthly contests. The POTY gallery will be open for voting by all registered members in a two rounds approach.

POTY 2004 Semi-Final, held in August 1-31, 2005 for the selection of the top 48 photos.
POTY 2004 Final, held in October 1-31, 2005 to determine the ranking for the best 12 POTY.

I want to share my story about how photography came into my life and how it has changed my view of the world.

I have never liked photogrphy at all. I had an old polaroid camera as a teenager and took dumb pictures of my brother, dogs and friends. I still have the photos. They still look dumb. In 1974, as a junior in high school, I had a rough time, in my opinion. I finished all of my required courses, even my senior stuff and my mom would not let me get a job anywhere, to get out of school early. She said that I had the rest of my life to work and wasn’t going to while in school. That meant that I would have to find any and all junk classes, I called them, to fill up 6 classes per day. I am not the best photographer there is, I will be the first to say it and argue with anyone that may say I am (especially my wife). I just thought I would give some personal insights from a self taught photographer so here goes. Bright sun can create unattractive deep shadows on the face.
