Some children are naturally beautiful. Some have amazing personalities. Some have a combination of the two and it reflects, in some manner, in photographs. Here, we have a little girl around 6 years old. She was part of a group of siblings and cousins with whom group shots were being taken and in which many individual photographs were taken. While shy, she was willing to be posed. And, indeed, this is a posed photograph.

It’s been said by professional photographers, that posing is more than half the battle. A good photograph of a person cannot, necessarily, be one without a little posing. With children, however, posing is not natural. Their pureness generally comes out when you capture them in the moment; when you wait for their cues. However, an older child, such as this young lady, may be able to combine posing and capturing the moment in one …. Full Article.

Creating GIF Animation for Your Photographs - by umran

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Over the daily shout thread, I’m amazed with Tom’s work on the animation graphics, many asked how it was done, his answered was using GIF extension file. It was mind boggling at first so I surfed the internet to find out more information about this. There are a lot of GIF animators software available, but many is for trial purposes and if one really interested he or she may opt to buy the product.

So how to make a static photo some what appear to be non static? For example, how to make an animal eye in a static photo blink? Or perhaps, how to continuously make lighting level change in a static photo? And off course many more……

To answer those questions, I downloaded one particular software, after figuring it out on how to use it, it run perfectly as per plan but the setback was it put up it’s brand name on the finish product. This is something that i really hate! But one thing good is that i learned the basic thing about animation. It utilized GIF extension file, and timed the frame to frame into either single loop and stop or continuous looping. This opened up a new door to me. Yes if we really want a moving picture we might as well as doing some video shooting! But that’ll consume too much memory space and i believe nothing really special about it either …. Full Article.

Point & Shoot Camera with Canon IS and Nikon VR

How well is the VR feature performed? The VR does help my shooting experience, after making hundreds of shots, I am able to create sharp image at 1/30s in most case (one-hand operations) and sometimes at 1/15s or even 1/8s. I found it gives about 1-stop advantage when framing under low light condition …. Nikon COOLPIX P4 VR Digital Camera Review.

Yes, the IS works! The higher ISO 800 sensitivity helps. I am able to create fair image at 1/30s securely (one-hand operations) and at good successful rate even at 1/10s. I found it gives about 1.5 stop advantage when framing under low light condition. How well it goes with respect to the Nikon COOLPIX P4 VR? Under a similar low light environment, I could have something like 80% successful rate from the Canon IS while the Nikon VR could give only 50%.

The Canon IS produces constantly fair result while the Nikon VR gives extreme result that it could be either a success or failed shot. However, the successful shot created by Nikon VR has better sharpness over those from Canon IS. Interesting? I would say the Canon IS gives fair result in a more secured successful rate while Nikon VR gives better result in some extreme case …. Canon Digital IXUS 800 IS Digital Camera Review.
