City of Light @ Wide Angle

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

With my new combo for wide angle photography, Canon EOS 400D and EFS 10-22 lens, took some snaps, that is a 30 mins walk while returning home. Locked at 10mm, ISO 800, evaluative metering, straight out of camera, hand held.

Canon EOS 400D Combo for Everyday Snaps

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

I love my Nikon D1x and collection of prime lenses for best possible image quality, however portability becomes a trade-off. I am looking for handy portable DSLR combos for everyday snaps in user-friendly convention and responsive operations.

I have been Nikon friend some years; the D200 and D80 would be natively a complimentary choice to my D1x, but I finally picked a Canon EOS 400D instead of D200 or D80. There are two main reasons drive my conclusion to the 400D. Firstly, I would like the best possible portability, and secondly, I want the camera produces lowest noise at higher ISO sensitivity. And I also need image stabilizer (IS) function to against camera sharks.

I ordered a 400D camera body with the EFS 10-22 USM and EFS 17-85 IS USM lenses instead of the default 18-55 kit lens. They have a better focal length ranges, built quality and IS feature that meets my requirements for traveling and dynamic photography style.

Photographer’s Dream - by Senor Kasper

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

For a photographer, being able to fly would be one of the ultimate dreams….what an opportunity to shoot cityscapes, landscapes, wild life, sunsets and sunrises as you’ve never seen before. This photo is obviously a composition of 2 photos, I captured the NY scene a few years ago from the observation deck of the Empire State Building; my picture I took yesterday with the help of my wife. The camera was positioned about 7 feet above ground, I picked a sunny mid-morning similar to the NY morning and made sure the sun light was coming from the right and a bit behind, just as it was in the original picture. I was laying on a blue tarp in the middle of my driveway, a fan was used to blow on what is left of my hair (which, as an unintended side benefit combed my hair over my bald spot). The blue background made it a bit easier to mask and cut my picture for blending in Photoshop. I hope you like it. Check user comments.
